J. Rosamond Johnson Recording Project
J. Rosamond Johnson Recording Project
Inspired by the 'discovery' during our first concert of a foxtrot-two step called, (video below) "I've Lost My Teddy Bear", composed by J. Rosamond Johnson, James Weldon Johnson, and Robert Cole, further research has led to locating dozens of arrangements of the music of J. Rosamond and his collaborators as set during the ragtime age for band. It is our goal to record these compositions with our all professional 20 member band to preserve this music for future ages.
Johnson's career was far more diverse and varied than just composing his masterpiece of,
"Lift Every Voice and Sing". As part of this recording, we are also commissioning a new setting of that tune for band in the style of the era.
